Chapter 2: A New Day
Throughout the day Michizuru had helped Akiko get settled into her new position as the new Anakage. "Everything you need is over on that bookcase and if you have any questions just ask your advisors." He said as he put together a set of scrolls. "These will help you with any political issues that may come up." He handed her the scrolls. "I wish I could stay longer to help finish getting you settled, but I've already sent my reply that I will be arriving within the next few days. I'll send your advisors in when I leave." He said turning and heading to the door. "What about..." Akiko started to ask but was interupted. "Lady Anakage, it is time for you to prepare for the ceremony tomorrow." One of her advisors came in just as Michizuru was leaving. "Fine. I guess I'll catch him before he leaves." Akiko said as she sat down in her chair.
Michizuru had alot to do today if he wanted to leave in the morning. First thing he had to do was get supplies. As he walked out the building he made a left down the road and made his way to one of the many shops in the village. As he walked he looked and noticed many people already wearing their black funeral clothes even though the funeral wouldn't be for a few more days. He stopped after a few minutes in front of a small shop that sold scrolls, kunai, and shuriken. "What can I get you?" The shop owner asked as Michizuru walked in and started to look around. After a few minutes he grabbed some items and walked over to the counter, setting them on the counter. "I think this will be it." He said as he pulled out his wallet. The owner rang up the items and gave Michizuru the total. He paid and than left to go back to his house to pack for his trip.
He reached his house and entered, heading to his room he tossed the bag of items on his bed and began packing. To get to Konoha in two days, he would need to pack light, a change of clothes and three days worth of rations would be good enough for the trip. He grabbed his sword and set it and his bag by the door going back to his bed and putting the kunai and shuriken in their respective pouches and the scrolls in a pouch on the inside of his cloak. Later that evening he went out to one of the resturaunts for a quick bite. He had decide he would leave before everyone woke the next morning. After he had finished eating the faux lights had dimmed signaling nightfall and he decided to go and get some sleep.
The next morning Michizuru awoke and got dressed, grabbed his things and left for the north gate. He arrived at the gate within ten minutes of leaving and saw a small formation there. "Great, looks like I won't be leaving undetected." He said as he stopped in front of a small group including Akiko and Kai. "There's just no way to leave without saying goodbye. Is there?" He said as he looked at Akiko and Kai and smiled. "Of course not. You know that." Akiko replied as she walked up to Michizuru. "And just because we didn't really know each other doesn't mean I shouldn't see you off as well." Kai followed and stood in front of Michizuru.
"Thanks you two." Michizuru said looking from Akiko to Kai. "And I wish I could stay longer but it's going to be a day and half just to get to the surface." Michizuru said as he walked past them and towards a smaller door located on one of the gates. "You're not leaving that easily. You should know why we're here." Kai grabbed onto Michizuru's shoulder. "We have to send two ninja with you until you reach the surface. I've selected two of my teammates to escort you there." Kai said motioning to two of the other four ninja that were there. "You know I don't need an escort for this." Michizuru turned to Kai. "We know that, but rules and all." Akiko replied as she put her hand on Michizuru's other shoulder. "I guess there's no way out of this one. Fine, but only until we see the tunnel entrance." Michizuru turned to Akiko and smiled. "If it'll make you feel better. I'll send word of my arrival as soon as I can." Michizuru started to walk towards the door again. "And this isn't goodbye, so don't even say anything. I'll be back. I might not be a member of this village anymore, but I'll be back." He said before Kai and Akiko could get a word in. All he got was an "All right, we'll see you later than." As he left with his two escorts. The next day and a half consisted of nothing but running with limited rests. Once they saw the small light that signaled the entrance Michizuru's two escorts broke off and made for their return to their village as Michizuru exited the tunnel into the light. The cave exited at the edge of the Fire country near the forest that housed Konohagakure.
