The loud, booming bass playing out of speakers wedged into the windows echoed out across the open park. Out on the lawn, the fraternity guys laid out couches, a few played ping-pong, others drank. It was the first week of school, and many of the new students were scoping out the new houses they wished to one day be a part of.
Faye Vale adjusted the bag across her chest and pulled out her keys. Earbuds rested comfortably in her ears as she was softly singing along to the songs off her MP3 player. While she was a freshman at the college, she was able to live off campus in an apartment down the street. It wasn't uncommon for students to live off campus.
In honesty, she wasn't even sure why she was going to college. She had always had the dream to become a famous rock star. She had high hopes, but her parents drove her to go to school.
With a lazy shove of her shoulder, the door popped open and she slipped into the apartment complex. After a brisk jog up two flights of stairs, she landed at her apartment, fumbled through her keys once more and slipped in.
The bag full of books landed with a thud beside the door. The lock was slid shut and the young woman scampered her way to her room. She opened the window facing the alley, grabbed her guitar and flopped down carefully to sit in the window. The brunette flipped a notebook open on an old music stand beside her, placed her fingers on the neck and began to strum the acoustic guitar.

Another street, another brawl. Only this time, there was an unfortunate deal with a pusher trying to sell, and Alex not going along with it. It was only an uppercut, with blood streaming down his throat to cover his shirt -red-... Alex only did follow through with a kick in the nuts with the so called "Guard" and ONLY stole what drugs they had, several ounces of pot. Fine, a very large ziplock bag filled to the brim. The point is, they were very much exaggerating when they called for backup; two other guys with chains and metal bars. Alex was alone, running, the plastic bag safely stored underneath his shirt, throwing whatever empty bottles of beer he could back at his followers.
Of course, stopping in his tracks to locate the source of the music was perhaps pathetically stupid, but what -was- really dumb was just staring at the girl who was playing and getting tackled by one of the guys. Then getting beaten up on the ground was a -whole- other story. Bending his knees to his chest and covering his head with his arms, he called them names. "You hit like my grandmother, come on! Put your back into i-" Then a loud wheeze as a foot emptied his lungs. "I get it! You guys ar-" Smack, his lip was now bloodied. "You'll pay for that one!"
Another beating, in another alley. It wasn't unusual for Alex, considering he always got into all sorts of trouble for all sorts of reasons.
So he just lay there, getting beaten, kicked, smacked. Eventually, they fished for the drugs underneath his shirt, ripping it off, revealing the series of black tattoos, flames running up the left side of his back, and gibberish written on his right, and a mjolnir hammer at the base of the neck. All black, now blue and purple here and there.

The excitement in the alley was enough to cause Faye to stopped any sort of sound from escaping her lips, or her guitar. She quickly, but gently, tossed her guitar on her bed and jumped out the window and onto the fire escape. "Hey!" She shouted as she watched the assailants starting to leave.
By the time she actually got off the escape, they didn't seem to mind a girl coming along. "Hey, are you okay?" Faye asked the young man. She knelt down on one knee and frowned as she looked at his torn up shirt. "You can come up to my place. Get some ice. that was pretty brutal." She pointed out and gestured up to her window. "I mean, as long as you can climb up that... I... don't have my keys since I rushed down here." She laughed softly as a blush began to tint her cheeks. She was much too concerned about what was going on.
"I'm Faye, by the way."

"My knight in shining armor." Said Alex weakly. Covered in dirt, bruises, blood and some patches of sweat, he managed to sit up painfully, both hands grabbing at the spots on his chest that hurt the most. "You're a bit late, but... better late than never, right?" He continued to say, standing up, using her body to lift himself up. "Sure, sure, I can climb that." He said, moving a hand to his hair to place it back on his head properly. This move seemed ironic, as he had very short, army style hair. "For ice, at this point, I'd climb any frigging stairwell."
He took a few steps to where her window was, scratching his neck and wincing as he stretched his arm too far up. He cursed loudly, in German, before turning his head and smiling back to his 'savior'. "Call me Lex." He said, before trying to climb the ladder and failing miserably, falling -three- times in a row. He couldn't force his arms at the moment. "...This isn't working out too well, Faye." He said, wiping his arse of the dust that had gathered with his recent falls. "You could kiss me, until I get well enough to climb, or get the keys. For the ice, it is worth it. I... -promise-."

By the time he had fallen a third time, Faye helped him up and helped him lean himself against the wall to rest. "It won't do you any good trying to climb up the fire escape..."The girl muttered softly as she flipped some hair out of her face. Even in pain, this boy-- Lex-- was trying to play it smooth with her, and she couldn't help but smirk at it. "I wouldn't but much of a 'savior' if I couldn't help in a few ways... I'll go and get my keys." She explained to him, but seemed to hesitate for a moment.
While she was still standing beside him, she leaned over and gently kissed the corner of his mouth. "One for good luck," She stated and moved across his mouth; brushing her lips against his as she did so, and she kissed the other corner of his mouth, "Two for good patience". She smiled a little and gently kissed him full on his lips, "Three for strength..." Faye kissed him one last time. This time, she help her lips to his a bit long, and pulled back just enough for her lips to still brush against his as she spoke, "And four to take the pain."
Without a second glance back at him, she quickly jumped onto the fire escape and climbed up to her window. The entire time, all she could think about was, one- what she had done, and two- happy she wasn't wearing a skirt.
Moments later, she came around from the front of the building and jogged her way over to him; her arm across her chest to keep from bumping around too much. "Come on this way... we can take the elevator so you don't hurt yourself more going up the stairs." She explained to him softly, and went back to his side to help him walk.

She knew what she wanted, and he could tell she wanted him. Brashly kissing him like that, he felt like he was the one being 'hunted'. It was an unusual position to be in, especially considering he was usually the predator. "Don't slip now." He called to her as she climbed, grinning at his pathetic joke. "I can manage, really." He began to say, following her into the building, but instead of going for the elevator, he began to push for the stairs. "Oh come on, I can make it. Last thing I want is for the elevator to become a habit. Come, we can do it." He purposely used the term "We" because he knew that by himself he couldn't do it; he'd just sit at some point and roll his way back down into the alley.
After a whole lot of exercise, pain, groans, a sweaty forehead and more than one curse in German, he finally got to her apartment. He crash landed where she led him, picking the most comfortable spot he could find and sprawled out almost lazily. He took out his cell, a cigarette, stuffed it into his mouth and began to send text messages as he looked to her. "So... Faye, what do I owe my knight in shining armor?"

The entire way up, she was giving him soft words of encouragement to hopefully help keep him going. He really did look bad from the guys, and she couldn't even picture how it felt. As soon as they got to her landing, she hurried over to her door, opened it and helped in inside. Of course, he didn't make it past the couch. As soon as he was sprawled out, she hurried to the small kitchen- or what could be called a kitchen- and started to fill a couple bags full of ice cubes.
She stood beside him and lifted and eyebrow as he took the cigarette out and put it to his lips. "You owe me..." She started, and took the cigarette from his lips, "A cigarette, a phone number, and an explanation." She stated with a small shrug, then disappeared back into the kitchen.
Faye came back with a couple glasses of water, and she carefully sat beside him. By beside, it would be with his legs laying across her. "Have a light?" She asked as she looked at him and handed him a glass of water. "And want some asprin or other pain killers?" She added on and took a sip of her water.

There was a groan, just a small, out of habit groan from someone taking his cigarette. "Thanks, I was trying to stop anyway." He said jokingly, before taking out his lighter, a crude bic that did the job. "I'll take whatever painkillers you got." He held onto the glass before placing it between his legs lazily, not a care in the world. "An explanation...." He began to say, chuckling. "The short version of it is I took their stuff, they wanted it back. I sort of tripped and they kicked my ass."
He crossed his arms over his chest, wincing a little before taking a deep, controlled breath. "The long version of it is, we don't like drugs in our neighborhood. Makes deals go bad. You add a few junkies in the mix and it is bound to get f*cked up. We're... trying to clean up the neighborhood. We're just not enough right now to really make a stand."
There was more he wasn't telling. That much was a whole point of pie he wasn't telling. Because, bruised as he was, there was something unnatural going on. The black tattoos on his arms were pitch black, like they were freshly made... His bruises, however, seemed to become paler and paler. "You don't think this neighborhood is f*cked up enough already?" He asked, opening the slit of an eye to watch her. "I think more needs to be done, don't get me wrong... f*ck the law. They never gave a shit about us, they send a few cops, stop a few people... But they never go to the roots. They're just as evil as the people who import the dirty stuff."

Faye listened to his explanation as she headed back towards the bathroom. "Keep going, I can still hear you." She called out when she heard him stop speaking. The sound of a pill bottle being shaken could be heard, and a few moments later, she emerged from the bathroom and took her place back on the couch beside him. She slipped the couple pills into his hand, drew the cigarette from her lips after a long draw and slowly released the smoke through her nostrils.
"I know this neighborhood is very screwed. I can only imagine how many students get drugs from around this place.... I mean... The Law has never done anything in this city anyway. I actually live across town. I know they don't, and won't, do anything. I've always thought that they always had some part in the deals going on. How can there be drug houses that a whole neighborhood knows about not get in trouble, ever? They had to have had an informant to let them know when to clean up. And you always can see deals going on, yet the cops never do jack-sh!t... It's ridiculous, but what we live with." Faye explained as she took a short drag and leaned her head back against the couch.
"But why do you care so much about these drug dealers? There has to be more to this story than what you want to let on..." Faye slowly began to smirk a little as her eyes narrowed while she looked at him, "Did a dealer do you wrong or something?" She teased and flicked ashes off the end of the cigarette.

"Oh... you know." The sentence was such a fake way to go about it. Everyone could know it was the start of a lie. He sighed deeply, his whole plan shattered by a few poorly chosen words. "You know, we figured that the cops had something to do with it. But it's not that easy... If it were some corrupt cops it'd be easy to deal with, believe it or not. It's much more complicated than that. We're going to fix these problems, and we're going to f*cking kill th-" There was screaming in the alley. "Oh! Saved by the bell!" He called out, grinning, teeth and all. "My buddies. They've come to get me. Wanna hang out?" He asked briskly, standing up like nothing had happened. It was almost the case. Indeed, the late teen's bruises, scratches, marks and other injuries were -gone-. "Come on, they're volatile and won't stick around for long. We have a belief, you see. We live in the present, we take the moment to live, to explore. f*ck the plans, we make our own future as we go." There was a sound of confidence in his voice that could send people trembling, could make goosebumps appear on your arms and send a chill down your spine. "Unless you're going to play that guitar of yours until your fingers bleed... Or you could come with us, and make a difference." Grabbing her hand either way and pulling her up to her feet, he grabbed her tightly, perhaps a little too close for anyone that just met someone. "There are things you wouldn't believe out there. Let me show you." And as quickly as he had pulled her, he was out the window, one leg over the edge, climbing down to join his buddies. "Come on! We wanna get plasted tonight! BEFORE TOMORROW!" One of them called out. "You heard him punk! That ladder is kicking your ass." "Oh shut up or I'll beat you up." "You wouldn't da-" Suddenly they were throwing punches, laughing, brawling, giving each other noogies for no apparent reason. "Well? Who's the girl?" Lex sighed. "Fay, meet... My so called friends. We're the Crew." He said casually. "They're all good guys. Find one of them and you'll be fine. Guys, meet Fay. Be nice. Or I'll beat you." And so they 'went' to the city. Not the flashy, rich and classy looking stuff. They took a turn on the wrong street, walked down the wrong alley, and entered that really shady club nobody dared enter. Lex opened the door for the gang, who go streaming and screaming in. Loud techno music was playing. "Just head on down the stairs, I'll catch you there. I got to talk to someone." Flashy lights, loud, repetitive music, electronic lasers and short skirts. Hundreds of people jumping up and down, wearing all manners of colors, fluorescent and opaque alike. Before she knew it, Fay was given a beer by one of the gang members. "Woohoo! Come on! Dance!" They were all around her, dancing, jumping, raising their arms and yelling, following the thick beat of the music. But in the corners, near the bar, she could see people were watching her, creepily. Anyone normal would realize that the feeling in their gut says: It's time to go. You are NOT safe here. You can stay, but I, the intestines and the stomach wanna GO. However, every time Fay might try to leave the dance floor, one of the members dragged her back in the protective circle. Before she could realize it, Lex was at the bar, talking, not so casually. Did he just throw a glass at the bartender -after- emptying it on his face? Oh dear. Was he -picking- fights on purpose? Wait. There's an envelope... Lex took it, folded it and stuffed it down his pants. Bare-chested, he walked to the gang, nodding to them. Whatever code it was, they all nodded, leaving Fay out of the loop. "You enjoying the party so far? We got free drinks till we can't drink no more!" He said loudly and merrily.

Everything was completely rushed and thrown onto Faye, that by the time they had reached the rave, she just rolled with it all. By the time they were inside, she was laughing and shouting with them as though she had been with them for years; like she was a part of them.
It wasn't until she could feel eyes boring into the back of her head that her hyperness began to slowly wear off. While she still had a smile and was laughing, and jumping around occasionally with the group, she couldn't stop peeking over her shoulder. The hairs on the back of her neck seemed to be continuously raised, the awkwardness of feeling some unknown hate boring down on her...
She nearly screamed when Alex came back around to the group and spoke. Definitely startled, and beyond creeped out by now (especially because she couldn't really leave), she covered her mouth to make sure she really *wouldn't* scream. She inched her way back over to Alex, and looked over her shoulder at the different corners. "Hey... You know, I really should be heading back home soon... I have a sh*t ton of homework to do, not to mention I have a lab tomorrow morning!" She called to Alex, not really wanting to admit how uncomfortable she truly felt.

"Oh come on Faye, the party -just- started." Lex said, a maniacal smirk forming. "Come on, we have cooler things to show you." He said, grabbing her arm and dragging her along. The gang walked, quickly. Instead of moving out of the rave, they went deeper. Through tight corridors that seemed like a maze, the teens seemed to flow through them with an ease that was unnatural. Did they really spend THAT much time here?
"You mentioned me having a problem with the boys who were selling drugs..." Lex began to say, and the fellow members snickered and spit at the walls. "Well. I got a real f*cking problem with them..." As they walked, one of his finger traced the wall; at first there was nothing, but as they moved a darker line formed, then the smell of smoke, of something acidic burning. She could see there was more than one mark on the walls, claw marks?! HUMAN CLAW MARKS!? Nails scratching away like they were being dragged away, very much like Faye was... right now... Against their will. "We have many problems, with many people. However, we can't go all out yet. The buggers are hard to find and we have limited resources." He then casually pointed to a graffiti, a large Z and K strung together. "That's us. ZK."
They arrived at a door, there was yelling, screaming... "Now in here, is our mutual friend. He's the one screaming. The one making him scream doesn't like people very much. Don't make eye contact, don't touch, don't talk to her unless spoken to. And my advice? Try not to get noticed." Lex said this so quickly, like everyone knows this info already.
The metal door opened, it was thick, but on the other side were clear marks of attempts to escape. "Faye, I would like you to meet Kiri."
Lex pointed to a woman in a very large trenchcoat, bloody fists, hovering over a very naked man tied up to a chair with tape. "Kiri, meet Faye." Lex just threw the spotlight on her, nevermind the man that was tied up, clearly beaten and bloodied by -her- fists. "This is our mutual friend Faye. Do you have anything to say to him? Kiri was just finishing up with him."

The claw marks going down the hall caused Faye to stop dead in her tracks, but one of the guys behind her easily guided her forward to keep going, all the while laughing and having a good time. Her heart was racing and threatening to beat right out of her chest from the fear. She had no idea where the hell she was now, and that stench.. It was like they had just walked down into a portal to Hell itself. The sulfuric smell was enough to make her gag. Now she had done it, she helped save a kid in the alley-- who now looked like nothing ever even happened-- and now she was going to die, that was it. Trying to not show any fear trying to etch itself on her face, she looked at Alex as best as she could, and just barely caught what he said. "N-noticed?" She stuttered out softly before being pushed in after Alex. Faye was in the middle of pulling her eyes from the deeper claw marks on the door. At the introduction, she snapped her attention to 'Kiri'; eyes wide. Bloodied clothing hadn't been the only thing scattered out on the floor. The empty rolls of duct tape and packaging tape were littered around with... fingers? The woman didn't turn to look at the gang coming in. She was still focused on the man, bound to the feeble chair, red staining his own skin, her skin, the chair and the floor. A blade was sticking out of the ground, its handle and blade bloodied. She could hear them talking, but her eyes never faulted from the 'man' in front of her. The disgusting sack of-- Kiri flexed her hands; stretched her fingers out, and curled them back into a fist: all of her knuckled cracking. "Nothing?" Came the woman's voice, and when no one else said anything, she walked back to the dagger embedded in the cement and ripped it out as though it were simply a weed. Without a second glance, without any remorse or sorrow, she slammed the dagger into the man's chest where his heart would be. A deafening screech sounded, as though it were like a high-pitched whistle, and the man in the car began to cave in on himself. It was as though the dagger was sucking the life out of him: his body dried up, and soon with a loud pop and a sickening scent of sulfur and burning flesh, he was gone. The dagger clattered onto the chair. With a bloody hand, she reached up and pulled her hood down. Long neon-blue hair cascaded down her body; even with the ruby splashes of blood on her face, it was clear she had a certain otherworldly beauty about her. She stared at Faye; one eyes an icy silver-blue, while the other was a dark steel gray ringed with the same silvery blue. The air in the room even seemed to stand still as Kiri stared at the other girl. "You just had to bring her down to see that piece of sh*t, didn't you?" Kiri snapped and snatched up her dagger and slipped it into its holder on her hip. With a shake of her head, she marched over to the group. Faye quickly moved out of the way. What the f*ck had she just seen? She was trembling physically now, and no one seemed to even notice, let alone care! Her knees were beyond feeling weak, and by now, she had no clue how she was even still standing up. Kiri didn't stop until she stepped in front of the tall, older-looking male with the red hair. Something about her aura seemed to change, because she lifted her hand and caressed his cheek- leaving trails of blood where she touched him. "You know I don't like when you guys come down when I'm in the middle of...." She paused and looked at Alex, ".. interrogation." She said thoughtfully and turned back to the red-head, leaned in and lightly kissed him on the lips.. It was clear he was the only one who ever got any sort of emotion out of her.

The red head seemed to melt into her, holding a hand to Kiri's, stopping the blood from covering his face. "You know I'm no fan of blood..." He whispered gently, smirking and losing himself into her eyes.
Lex merely shrugged. "I know. But I found something wonderful today. We found ourselves another wielder. And I figured she needed a crash course in the real world." He closed the large metal door behind them, the gang members took prime seats: The floor, their backs pressed against the wall. Some took out cigarettes, some hipflasks, other just lazily drank their beer... Although, one of them was flipping a sharp knife, one similar to Kiri's.
"We are Ze Kings. Of course, that name sounds really bad. We ought to change it, unfortunately, that is how we came to be known as. The... thing, tied up in the chair, was in fact a demon. From hell. We, we specialize in two things: The removal of demons from our world, and the extermination of demons... in their world." He said this so simply and quickly it seemed almost boring. "You might wonder why I brought you here. You. Of all the girls and boys. You might wonder why each of us is here. Some have made a very..." Lex looked to Kiri. " Costly, sacrifice." He then snapped his fingers at Faye. "Come now, it's not the time to fall into human weakness. Wake up girl, it's happening and it is happening now. Focus!" He even shook her slightly to wake her from her fearful stupor.
"Kiri here was kindly interrogating a demon, and has no doubt found the information we needed. While she is the most antisocial creature I know, she also happens to be one of the best. I also figured, while she was doing this, live, you might understand more quickly that I'm not trying to seduce you with some roleplay story, this is real. This is happening. And you're part of it..."
"Jesus man, you gonna write a book? f*cking spit it out! She can ask f*cking questions, I want to get drunk."
"Yeah man, come on."
Lex sighed. "Alright alright. You, Faye, are like me. You have the potential to wield magic. Magic that can be used to kill demons. Not everyone has that potential, some embrace it, some don't. Other's... fall to it. Have you felt that nights felt darker, recently? Have you felt something tugging at you? Not your arms, legs or hair, but at your soul. A sinister calling? You know what I'm talking about. I didn't fall on your neighborhood by accident. I was led to it. Because you, are like me, and you ooze magic. You guys smell it, right?"
"Yeah yeah..."
"Make her feel special too."
"If you want no part of us, feel free. But sooner or later, someone else will come knocking at your door. And they're not going to be the good guys. They're going to be the corrupt cops. They're going to be the reason why Christianity created Satan. There are beings out there... willing to do so much harm. D'you want to come with us, my dear? I and my buds will teach you how to be a Demon Hunter."

The reek of blood in the cement room, mixed with the stench of burning flesh and sulfur, lingered on. Faye could see that Alex was talking, but she couldn’t make out all the words he was speaking. Demons, extermination, sacrifice? When Alex had grabbed her, and even started to shake her, Faye let out a small, soft scream. She cringed a bit as he continued to speak; only wanting to head home….
…But when he brought up feeling something in the neighborhood, her attention had suddenly peaked.
She tensed up a bit as he mentioned magic. All those nights that she felt a heavy pressure on her shoulders and chest, like the times when she was a child. The doctors had always said she had asthma, but was this the true answer? It made sense, especially since she could feel a pressure when she walked in the room, and it was suddenly gone when that… demon… was terminated.
Faye swallowed hard and looked at Alex. “So… does that explain the feeling from upstairs?” She asked as she shivered a little while she recounted the feeling. The hate, it had never felt so heavy before, especially when it seemed to come from so many directions all at once. “Because it felt like there was something weighing me down in there…” The girl muttered softly, shyly even. It was usual for her to dismiss it as feeling ill or nervous.
“There are more than humans in this building.” Kiri called over after she had finished cleaning herself up. “I can barely see her aura, but it is there… as little as it is since she knows nothing. Honestly, if this hasn’t scared her away yet to the point where she’s screaming… I think she’s staying….” Kiri observed, and then lifted a thin, delicate eyebrow, “or perhaps… she knows more than she’s letting on to, Lex.” She pointed out and leaned into the red head. Her hand snaked its way up over her shoulder to caress his cheek again.
“We don’t hurt the innocent. We can all sense it.. but the moment they turn, the moment they lie… we lock in on them.” Kiri explained to Faye, who seemed to be looking a bit more relaxed.
“So.. I’m not crazy? I always thought there was something else here… but no one ever believed me when I was young…” Faye explained and rubbed the back of her neck. “Just don’t… creep me out so much next time… This is new to me… baby steps.” She explained.

"I'm not the one to confirm the feeling from upstairs. I didn't check, even though I should have. But I would say it's a safe bet a few of this guy pals are waiting for us." Lex motioned to the chair that was bloodied and charred. "Demons like us, especially us, since we have magic. We're like the pie of humans." He was then followed by Kiri, who explained the situation. The red haired young man didn't seem to mind the whole conversation. He just huddled her tightly, arms around her waist.
"No. You're not crazy. Not yet anyway, but by the time the ZKs are done with you, you'll be as crazy as we are; riding a life like a roller coaster, enjoying the highs and lows to the fullest." Lex shrugged at Faye, scratching his neck ceremoniously, a manner of adding a bit of information to her request.
"If you had you as a baby, baby steps would be fine. But your aura began to... REALLY show. We knew you were around, you were cleverly hidden away. You're lucky I was the one who fell on you and not them... else they would've turned you into a ghoul. A human in their service. Usually they make them drink their blood, making a link between the ghoul and demon and the demon gets to command the ghoul and all the ghoul can do is obey. No discussion. You get some strength, speed and stuff... But nothing really worthwhile. You'd be demon canon-fodder. And then you have to feed on magic like demons do... Or human souls."
Lex began to point the various members of the game. "We're a small group. We have fighters, me, Kiri, hopefully you too will be one. We have digital techs, weapons crafter. But our bigger guys are known for research. You see, we're not the only ones beating on demons. We're small, ragtag, compared to some of the wealthier groups. Except we don't sell demon parts and the like on the market. Not yet anyway... We find it wrong. We do our own thing to get financial help. We sell information on how to beat the things."
'We're guinea pigs. We test out new stuff, we're the first on the frontlines to fight the new types of demons... We're very good at what we do. Then we let the other groups do the fine-tuning and cleanup, we just don't have the manpower."
"Oh shush. We're canon fodder to them."
"Plus, you forget we got two others that are training to fight demons. Takes a bit longer when you're not magic-tuned. For now, they train as they can, prepare themselves..." The blond haired one raised his hand, along with the very light hazelnut hair one.
"So. We don't have time for baby steps." Lex said, loudly. "You coming with us, follow the ride of your life, or shall we drop you off at your home? But just so you know... No pressure... They found you. They will look for you. And they have worse things in mind for spellweavers than turning them into ghouls..."

Kiri closed her eyes and leaned back into the redhead as she listened to Lex explain about them.
“So you expect me to just up and join this type of life and abandon what I have, basically just to be safe now?” Faye asked as she folded her arms over her chest. This wasn’t exactly what she had in mind for having an interesting life after high school and during college… Definitely topped the list though.
She looked around the dank room, and she let her rich amber eyes stare at the abandoned chair. By now, either the smells had gone away, or she was used to them by now.
“I’m in…” She stated softly and looked back at Alex.
Kiri slowly cracked an eye open and looked at the black-haired girl. “Once you join in… there is no turning back. You can’t continue to safely attend your school, or live a normal life. You’re constantly going to be on the edge, always looking over your shoulder to make sure you’re not being followed. It’s going to be a journey to learn how to fight like them… But more importantly, I should ease your mind off the bat—you won’t be doing any of the… slaying as I do. You, like them, wouldn’t be able to handle it.” The teal-haired woman explained as she turned and laid her head on his shoulder.
“Come on, Marcelus… Let’s head upstairs. I’m sure there are more things Lex can tell her about down here that she needs to know before she’s let go.” Kiri cooed softly to him, slipped her hand into his and began to lead him back down the long hallway to get back up to the dance floor.
Faye looked back at Lex and rubbed the back of her neck. “So… what did she mean about you all not being able to handle it?”
